LOCALLY GROWN = WIN WIN!!
I am excited about this! For all those in the Texoma area there are many locally grown, organic options closer than you think!
This means more nutrition, less harmful impact on the environment, and support of the local farmer.
A patient sent this site to me & it looks great! Check it out!

SNEAKY HARMFUL INGREDIENTS IN FOOD.
MSG or Monosodium Glutamate
We look for MSG on the labels of our food, and if we find it, we may purchase another brand. But what if we were to read one of these ingredients?:Glutamic Acid
Hydrolyzed protein
Autolyzed protein
Textured protein
Yeast extract
Autolyzed yeast extract
Protein isolate
Soy sauce
Modified food starch
Modified corn starch
Calcium caseinate
Sodlium caseinate
Broth
Maltodextrin
Seasonings
Natural flavor
Monopotassium glutamate
Glutamate
Gelatin
Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
Hydrolyzed plant protein
Textured protein
Yeast food
Yeast nutrient
Torula yeast
The above are all synonyms for monosodium glutamate or MSG. Food manufacturers are not breaking any labeling laws here for the FDA permits MSG to be labeled in this way.
The health issues cannot be ignored in regards to food additives and MSG. The following conditions have been linked to the consumption of MSG:
Numbness or paralysis
Mouth lesions or sores
Swelling of hands, feet or face
Diarrhea
Mitral valve prolapse
Nausea
Arrhythmia
Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Vomiting
Rise or drop in blood pressure
Stomach cramps and gas
Irritable bowel, colitis, constipation
Rapid heartbeat
Angina
Swelling or painful rectum
Spastic colon
Heart palpitations
Chills, shaking, shuddering
Extreme thirst
Water retention and bloating
Tendonitis and joint pain
Arthritic-like pain
Abdominal discomfort
Flu-like symptoms
Asthma symptoms
Stiffness or jaw or muscles
Shortness of breath
Heavy feeling of arms and legs
Chest pain
Mental dullness
Chest tightnessDepression
Runny nose and sneezing
Dizziness
Light headedness
Postnasal drip
Disorientation or mental confusion
Bi-polar symptoms
Bronchitis-like symptomsAnxiety or panic attacks
Sore throat or hoarseness
Hyperactivity in children
Chronic cough/tickle in throatAttention Deficit Disorder ADD
Gagging reflex
Behavioural problems
Shin rash/hives/itching
Feeling inebriated
Mouth lesions
Slurred speech
Tingling on ear or extremities
Balance problems
Skin flushing or burning sensation
Aching teeth
Seizures or tremors
Dark circles or bags under eyes
Memory loss
Urinary problems
Lethargy
Difficulty focusing
Sleep disorders
Pressure behind eyes
Migraines or headaches
Vision disturbances – seeing lights
Reproductive disorders
Endocrine system imbalances
Appetite control problems
Nervous system disorders
The food industry does not want to scare away it’s customers by stating MSG on the label, but neither does it want to supply you with an allegedly flavor deficient (their words) product. So to bypass this problem, MSG is reworded, carefully, with the FDA’s blessing, to not sound like the dreaded MSG. Obesity is strongly linked to MSG, because MSG harms your endocrine system which disrupts your appetite control, causing you to eat even though you are feeling physically full. If this sounds like you, try to avoid MSG and see if a more normal appetite occurs.
Yeast extract was the first ‘codeword’, but now we are on to that one, so ‘torula yeast’ is the latest non-threatening term, and sadly this is found in ‘all-natural’ foods like veggie burgers. The food manufacturers state that these MSG-like substances are needed flavor enhancers, yet any of us who cook up a meal seem to manage just fine without it.
None of us should have to double-check ingredient lists with a de-coder booklet, but these companies' bottom lines are to supply a good tasting product and make money, not to improve your health.
Some other harmful ingredients to avoid are partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors & colors, BHT, & bleached flour.

THEORIES & MYTHS BUSTED AGAIN!
I SAW THIS ARTICLE ON MSN HEALTH...COMMENTS IN PARENTHESIS ARE MY OWN...
There's a paradox that has long puzzled doctors: Roughly half the people who have heart attacks have perfectly normal cholesterol levels. I had a patient once whose total cholesterol was just 145—well below the 200 threshold above which doctors recommend treatment. And yet he had suffered two heart attacks by the age of forty-eight. Another patient had cholesterol above 300. But at the age of seventy, she had no plaque in her coronary arteries. How could this be?
Doctors now have at least a partial explanation.
(**Hint Hint** For years all the cholesterol bashing has largely been based on “theory”)
While we've all been obsessed with our total cholesterol numbers, it turns out that the size of those cholesterol particles is equally important. Excess LDL, or "bad" cholesterol, ends up getting deposited in arterial walls and forming plaque, which causes arteries to stiffen and blood pressure to rise—and ultimately leads to heart attacks. But not all LDL particles are equally likely to do damage. If they're very small, they're like little darts that easily pierce the arterial lining and deposit plaque. If they're large, they bounce off harmlessly, like beach balls.
Most of us check our cholesterol levels every year and can readily recite our good and bad cholesterol numbers. But very few of us get tested for particle size, even though the tests have been available clinically since the mid-1990s—and widely available in the past five years. These tests are generally covered by insurance, so tell your doctor you want one. They're graded in different ways, but most tell you if your particle size is small, medium, or large.
If your doctor determines that too many of your particles are small, you can turn this around with lifestyle changes or medication—or a combination of the two. (**With all the side effects of statin drugs, how about giving the lifestyle changes alone a fair shot!!)
The healthier your diet and exercise, the more your LDL particles will resemble those big beach balls. And as your waist shrinks, your LDL particle size will grow. No wonder trimmer waists are associated with better heart health. (Notice they didn’t say the more medication you take)

A patient recently sent me an email regarding info on the thyroid...
ask for your thyroid gland to be covered and protected during dental xrays & mammograms. The radiation can negatively affect the proper functioning of the gland. You have to ASK because it will not be offered.
INTERESTING....yet one of the "treatments" for thryoid gland is radiate the crap out of it???? I love my country but we Americans are really falling off the common sense wagon.
What about treating it with meds?? Read the following article...
Preventing Thyroid Conditions, Getting Off Cytomel and Synthroid
by Hippocrates Health Educator
To prevent thyroid conditions and remain healthy with normal thyroid levels, you need to be aware of several factors.
First, that thyroid conditions and thyroid disorders are caused by environmental estrogens and that is why they are so prevalent in women. The obvious sources are pesticides, fungicides, herbicides…
The less obvious environmental toxins come from polyester clothes, man-made fibers, chemicals in our water, pollutants in the air, etc.
The body recognizes these as estrogens. Because estrogen is a hormone, it takes the hormonally sensitive and hormonally active gland -- the thyroid -- and starts to overwork it...
But the goal is to get people off the most vile thyroid medication -- cytomel and synthroid (synthroid causes cardiovascular conditions and cancer) -- and move you to more herb-based medicine.
Females have more problems with thyroid disorders because we have more hormones. After all, we give life to a human being.

What A Testimony!
In my inbox this morning....this is why I do what I do....I can't change the world by myself...but leave a legacy I will.....
Hi Dr. Hamilton
I cannot tell you how incredibly blessed I know I am from knowing you. God truly wants me to get this right and he is making a way for me to do it. What you did for Jake and I left me speechless. All I could do was praise God and thank Him for His provision. I pray that God would bless you 100 fold of what you have sown into me, financially, time and friendship and support. It has always been hard for me to receive and ask for help. I have always been used to being the giver, I always want to give. I have learned so much from you. I cannot wait to get on the internet and find new ways of cooking. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! May God bless your business abundantly and your provision increase exponentially!! Thank you for being who you are and who God has called you to be. Thank you for sowing into my being successful at getting healthy and teaching my son good nutrition and habits.
Also, I joined the gym at work and one of the trainers there is going to help me begin to train for the White Rock Marathon. She doesn't want me to take on the whole marathon my first time, but says I can do the whole marathon without hurting myself.
Thank you for being such an amazing inspiration. I hope to put a video on your blog to encourage others to come and hear the wisdom that God has given you and for them to see my success and struggle so they too can be encouraged that it can be done. You are more than welcome to take any portion of my e-mails and post them. I am still telling everyone I can about you. I have seen how it is hard to get the "all natural" message out there. People are so brainwashed, they are resistant to doing it God's way or the right, healthy way. I pray that some how, some way, God will crack this healthy, natural way wide open in the minds of God's people, that God would provide the funds for those seeking to do it this way so they can get what they need to be healthy to carry out the purposes of His calling and to be healthy enough to do it!! In Jesus' name, by the power of His Holy Spirit, let it be so!
Have a blessed day. I hope you are feeling better. It was obvious your precious son enjoyed his time with you.
Talk to you soon.
Lisa

Chemicals in Everyday Products Turning Boys Into GIRLS?
A patient sent me this article from WebMD. When I found out I was pregnant with my second son in 2007 we changed all of this in our household & I can confirm he is my healthiest & strongest child.
**Side note, although this speaks of young boys it's important to understand that the hormone disrupters the article is referring to are also very responsible for underactive thyroid glands in many women.
A new report from the Danish Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), highlights the critical risks facing toddlers from gender bending chemicals in everyday products. Chemicals like phthalates (found in PVC and fragrances), parabens (found in lotions and sunscreens), and pesticides are increasingly being linked to hormone disruption – and two year olds have more in their blood than any previous generations.
What does it mean?
· Today’s boys have less sperm. Sperm counts are falling so fast that young men are about half as fertile as their fathers (and have about one-third the amount of sperm per milliliter as a hamster if you care to compare.)
· More boys are playing like girls. The DEFRA report highlights research from Rotterdam’s Erasmus University that found that boys whose mothers were exposed to certain hormone disruptors were more likely to dress up in girl’s clothes and play with dolls and tea sets.
· Fewer boys are being born. According to coverage of the report in the Telegraph, “A Canadian Indian community living on ancestral lands at the eastern tip of Lake Huron, hemmed in by one of the biggest agglomerations of chemical factories on earth, gives birth to twice as many girls as boys. It’s the same around Seveso in Italy, contaminated with dioxins from a notorious accident in the 1970s, and among Russian pesticide workers. And there’s more evidence from places as far apart as Israel and Taiwan, Brazil and the Arctic.”
· Boys’ unmentionables are getting smaller. Scientists at the University of Rochester in New York discovered that boys born to women exposed to phthalates had smaller penises and other feminization of the genitals.
Many of the chemicals being criticized have received their fair share of criticism in the past. What’s new about this report is the emphasis on “chemical cocktails” – or the fact that these chemicals mixed together are far worse than they are alone. And, this is how we are exposed to them – in mixtures from our everyday environments – not isolated like they are often tested in the laboratory. Beyond the machismo these occurrences may invoke in many a male, the overwhelming concern is the threat to reproduction.
What can you do?Reduce your exposure to hormone disruptors like pesticides, plasticizers, and chemically-laden personal care products.
· Eat organic food, whenever possible. Some of the offending chemicals mentioned in this report are stored in fat. So if you eat meat, choose low-fat cuts and remove excess fat. Also, choose low-fat dairy products.
· Avoid using plastic containers, especially for food and beverages. Use glass or stainless steel instead.
· Find safer personal care products. Cut back on how many and how much you use. And, maybe even try making your own (simple olive oil makes a wonderful skin moisturizer).
· Avoid using pesticides. Don’t give pests food or shelter. Clean up spills immediately, fix leaks, repair cracks, and mend torn screens. Yank weeds or pour boiling water on them instead of resorting to herbicides.
· Find safer toys, teethers and clothes for your family.

HOW ARE YOU SLEEPING?
I've been telling patients this for quite some time & many can testify with their treatment protocol forms. Sleep is soooo important to good health. There is a supplement in the world that can make up for loss of sleep.
